Hexagram 13 for love
Hexagram 13 People United in love and relationships
Tong Ren is fire rising to meet heaven: one yielding line at two, correct and central, drawn to the strong ruler at five, with four other strong lines wanting her too. For a relationship this is a bond right at its core but surrounded by competition, kinship claims and obstacles. The judgment places fellowship 'in the open field' and implicitly warns against the narrow kind — the second line's union with its clan alone brings regret.
The lines are the story of a couple with people in the way. One meets openly at the gate; two is the partner who keeps to her own; three plots in the thicket for years and gets nowhere; four climbs the wall and has the decency to come down; five weeps at the separation and laughs at the reunion, the heart of the hexagram; six withdraws to the outskirts, blameless and alone. A changing line in the lower trigram asks whether the bond is too narrow or being coveted; in the upper, whether the obstacles are being cleared or renounced.
