Hexagram 14 for love
Hexagram 14 Great Holdings in love and relationships
Da You is fire above heaven, the sun at the zenith lighting everything: one gentle line at five with five strong lines all turned toward her. For a relationship it pictures abundance — a partner who holds the regard of everyone, a bond with more than enough warmth and means — and it asks how such plenty is handled. The ruler's text gives the answer in two words, sincerity and dignity: trust that runs both ways, and enough self-respect that the other does not grow careless.
The lines are the strong partner's ways of holding plenty. One has not yet been tested by it; two carries the weight gladly; three gives what it has upward rather than hoarding; four could outshine the other and chooses not to; six, at the top, yields to the one it loves and is called blessed by heaven. A changing line in the lower trigram asks what you are doing with what you have; in the upper trigram it asks about restraint and dignity, the two things that keep abundance from spoiling.
