Hexagram 61 for love
Hexagram 61 Inner Sincerity in love and relationships
Zhong Fu is wind over the lake: a breeze that moves the whole water because the water is open to it; in the figure, two soft lines at the centre between strong ones, a trusting heart in a firm frame. In a relationship it is the hexagram of being believed. The Judgment says this sincerity 'moves even pigs and fishes', and the second line's crane, calling from the shade and answered by its own kind, is the book's purest picture of a bond that forms without pursuit.
The lines mark the degrees. Line one settles its trust once and keeps no second option; line three has lost itself in the other's moods; line four gives up an old attachment for a truer one; line five binds by being truthful; the top line has let words outrun the feeling. The hexagram affirms that genuine feeling is answered in kind, and asks whether yours is still steady. A changing line in the lower trigram concerns how you trust; one in the upper, what the trust is now asked to carry.
The hexagram in brief
Wind over the lake: inner truth that moves even pigs and fishes. Good fortune, favourable to cross the great river — sincerity at the centre reaches what force cannot.
Let trust come from genuine inner alignment; it persuades the hardest audience, and it is wrecked by a single false note.
The judgment
中孚:豚魚吉,利涉大川,利貞。Kung Fû (moves even) pigs and fish, and leads to good fortune. There will be advantage in crossing the great stream. There will be advantage in being firm and correct.
