Hexagram 3 for love
Hexagram 3 Sprouting in love and relationships
Zhun is thunder under water, a seed splitting in hard ground: the hexagram of difficult beginnings. In a relationship it describes the early tangle — strong feeling (the yang line at the bottom) meeting obstacles and uncertainty (the water above), with everyone circling on horseback and nobody yet arriving. Three of the six lines show the horses turning back, and the second line's phrase 'not a robber but a suitor' is the hexagram's own reminder that what looks like a threat may be an approach.
The lines separate the good hesitations from the bad. The second line waits a long time rather than accept the nearest offer; the fourth line turns away from a grand match to go to the one it truly corresponds with, and this is the hexagram's happiest line. The third line chases without a guide and should give up; the top line has waited past all hope. The counsel is patience with structure: name what the relationship is, gather the people who support it, and do not mistake a long beginning for a dead end.
The hexagram in brief
Thunder under water: a sprout pushing through hard ground. Beginnings are chaotic and effortful; the growth is real, but it needs order and helpers.
Don't rush ahead: set up structure, gather help, and persevere through the first tangle.
