Hexagram 37, line 5
九五Line 5 of Household
Nine in the fifth place · 家人 jiā rén
爻辭 The line text
王假有家,勿恤,吉。The fifth line, undivided, shows the influence of the king extending to his family. There need be no anxiety; there will be good fortune.
王假有家,交相愛也。'The influence of the king extends to his family:'—the intercourse between them is that of mutual love.
In plain words
The king comes to his household: no need for worry, good fortune. 假 is 'to arrive at' or 'to reach', and the line pictures the head of the house — yang, central and correct in the ruler's place, the outer ruler of the hexagram — bringing his whole presence home, where the inner ruler at two answers him. Government of the family is accomplished not by rules at this stage but by relationship. The small Image says why nothing needs worrying over: 'they love one another' (交相愛). This is the hexagram's fulfilled state, the counterpart to line one's fences and line three's sternness.
If this line is changing
Bring your full self to the people who are yours instead of managing them from a distance; when affection runs both ways, the worrying can stop.
